This Week's Big 30 Selections

Steven Reinhardt, Bradford Area High School

6’3” 270lbs. Offensive Left Tackle, Defensive Left Tackle

Steven plans on attending college to play football and major in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy. Stevens’s honors include 3 time Times Herald Big 30 All-Star, Big 30 Offensive Lineman of the Year, 2- time All-State Offensive Lineman, 2-time team Lineman of the Year, Team Offensive MVP. Steven was asked why he wants to play in the Big 30 game and replied, “I want to play in the game because it is a great honor to play in and I want to play one more game on my home turf.” His biggest thrill was winning the D9 Championship in 2006 in overtime against Clearfield and the fireworks homecoming night after we beat previously undefeated Meadville.

Shane Krise, St. Mary’s Area High School


6’3” 220lbs. Running Back and Tight End, Defensive End

Shane plans on attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a major in Criminology, I also aspire to play football at IUP while I am in attendance. Shane has been selected for the Who’s Who among American Students, and was selected to the 1st team MAC Defensive End and 2nd team Running back, D9 Champion wrestler at 189lbs., and has achieved all-star status 6 times in baseball. Shane said “I have wanted to play in the game since my former high school football heroes played in the game. It is a great honor to be ranked as high as them”. Shane stated “My biggest thrill was watching my team get pumped up after a big play regardless of who made the play.

Lucas Schwanke, Eisenhower High School

6’ 165lbs. Wide Receiver and Defensive Free Safety

Lucas plans to attend Allegany College to major in Religious Studies, then go to Seminary to become a pastor. Lucas’s honors include 1st team All Conference Receiver, 2nd team All Conference Receiver, 1st team All Conference Defensive Back, 2nd team All Conference Defensive Back and All-State Honorable Mention at the Defensive Back position. Lucas is also a Honor Roll student. Lucas was asked why he would like to play in the Big 30 game and he stated “to bring honor to God and it is an honorable achievement that I accept”. Lucas biggest thrill is “The moments that seem to last a life time. When you fight for all you’ve worked for comes down to the moments of glory or pain”.

James Barnum, Bolivar-Richburg Central School

6’6” 285lbs., Left Tackle, and Defensive Tackle

James Plans on attending college at Brockport majoring in Sports Management, Minoring in Coaching. Also he plans on playing football for the Golden Eagles. James awards are; Scholar Athlete, 2 time Sectional Footbal Champions, Far West Regional Champions, Natio0nal Football Federation Team of the Year (Rochester County), Livingston County Honorable Mention Offensive Line, and Wrestling Champion. Shane said “It’s an honor to paticipate in the Big 30 Classic it will be my last high school game. Shanes biggest thrill was winning sectionals with his fellow teamates.

Brian Butler, Archbishop Walsh High School

6’ 175lbs., Tight End /Wide Receiver, Defensive End/ Outside Linebacker

Brian plans on studying Eexercise Science at the collegiate level. From there he plans on being a trainer at a gym he will own. Brian has won the Athlete of the Month. Brian acedemic awards are High Honor your, and has been nominated for Business Weekly’s Outstanding Citizen Award. Brian on playing in the Big 30 Game; “I want to play in the Big30 game because it will give me a chance to represent my state in the biggest football game of my life. Also my brother played in the 2006 Big 30 game and I have had multiple friends who have play say it was a great experience”. Brians biggest thrill while playing is “ playing football and catching a pass for a two point conversion and recording eleven tackles to win the defensive Co-MVP award for the homecoming game.”

Derek Whitcomb, Salamanca Central School

5’ 7” 155lbs. Quarterback / Kicker, Defensive Conerback

Derek plans on attending Elmira College to major in Sports Management. Dereks honors includes; Offensive MVP for the 2008 season, player of the week 3 times 2 for offense and once for defense, Varsity soccer Defensive Player of the Year, Varsity Lacrosse Mid-Fielder of the Year., Whistlman Award, Varsity Hockey Assistant Captain. Academic Honors include; President of the French Honor Society, Marketing Student of the Month February 2009. Derek was asked why would he want to play in the Big 30 Game “ I believe it is an honor to be selected on the team and is a once in a lifetime opportunity.” Dereks biggest thrill was the competition and the drive to come out harder the next week and perform better.
