Olean Council Votes 'No' on Budget

Olean Common Council has voted to defeat a $24 million budget proposal.

Mayor David Carucci requested the special meeting, but didn't attend. City Auditor Janet Jones didn't attend the meeting either.

Alderman Earl McElfresh said the absence of Carucci and Jones was enough of a reason to cast a "no" vote. He said he has 13 questions about the revised budget proposal that the mayor handed out on Friday.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
