Convicted Murderer Files Appeal

A man convicted of kidnapping and murdering a St. Marys woman back in 1989 has filed an appeal

Attorneys for 36-year-old Christopher Weatherill say additional issues have come up since his first Post Conviction Relief Act Petition was filed in 1997.

District Attorney William Shaw Jr. says it's been so long that they shouldn't be allowed to bring up issues now, but the court system has to go through the process.

In October of 1989 Weatherill and Daniel Crispell kidnapped 48-year-old Ella Brown at the DuBois Mall, took her to a remote location and stabbed her to death. Weatherill was found in Tucson, Arizona, sleeping in Brown's car.

Weatherill is serving a life sentence in the state prison at Rockview. Crispell was sentenced to death and is currently in the state prison in Greene County.

These guys need to accept what they did and the consequences that come with it. They have no idea what they have done to every single person in Ella's family.
Neither one of this disturbed individuals deserve a second chance.
Where is Ella's second chance, she didn't get one, they took that away from her.

I am glad that we have many appeals built into our system. Wrong convictions don't bring back the victims, but they do ruin more lives. If I were the victim, I would want the right person/people punished. Justice is worth the time and price.
