Clarification

There is a difference between the actual gathering of news and listening to scanner reports and rumors.

As a trained, professional journalist I'm truly insulted by the people who think I am the one copying other people's work. If I don't happen to get a story onto this blog at the instant it comes over the scanner, perhaps it's because I'm doing my primary job -- gathering and writing news to broadcast on the radio.

Perhaps gathering news should be just that and not gathering it from others. The gathering of news as you call it is just that listening to a scanner, word of mouth ect.. verifying, then running with it. As far as rumors well since your article resembles others to a t then you too must be doing what you accuse others of. Oh well you couldn't take the criticism I gave and I struck a nerve so I believe my point is made. Gathering news means hitting the story as it breaks and hitting it hard. Not sitting, reading others work and calling it your own. Oh, next time post the original comment if you feel I am wrong. One more thing since you lagged behind others in the report then it means you are following the crowd.

I have found quite the similarity in quite a few of your posts, and radio news, to the news at the Bradford Era, to Solomon's words, and to bradford pa info. It seems to me that maybe you're just changing the words and the order around just a little and then calling it your own. The only news that I've heard from you that isn't like theirs is the political news that you post, and those are press releases.

I don't know why on Earth I am justifying myself to an anonymous blog poster. I know where I got my information and it wasn't from the Internet (except for the PennDOT site RE: the road closure). And don't you dare tell me how to gather news!

Are you kdding me??????? How the hell can I copy news from The Bradford when I have it before they even go to print?????? Ask Solomon's Words who gets his news from whom? As for bradford pa info -- I don't waste my time with that site.

Hey, Anne, Those who know you know the truth and what it takes to do radio vs. newspaper.

And just remember, The Era's site is stagnant - only updated once a day. You are updating all the time.

Three more things: 1) I, unlike some other people, know that copying news from other sources without giving them credit is illegal (as well as unethical). In fact, The Associated Press is cracking down on that, which likely cut down on content in a great number of blogs.

2)In any breaking news story, only so many facts are available. I got the same facts as someone else did. Maybe we have the same, or similar, sources. Who knows?

3)Yeah, you struck a nerve. Why? I work my heart out 60 hours a week and then I'm accused of copying. You wouldn't have struck such a nerve if I didn't care so much about doing a good job.

You must be tired, Anne. Normally something like this wouldn't get to you. You've done more with this blog, and for the community, than you probably even know. Don't let some anonymous hack get to you.

I am tired. I'm here at almost 8 p.m. waiting for the senate to vote on the amended HB 1416 because I'd feel guilty if I left without reporting on it. Of course it's "political news," so I guess it's not very important. I mean, it's not like it has anything to do with whether our personal income tax will go up, or whether state parks will close or schools and hospitals will lose money or the PA Council on the Arts will get no money. Nah, it's not important at all.
Anne,
You do a fantastic job with the news,I don't know how you do everything you do but the entire area benefits from your dedication to bringing us the latest news. Your political coverage is by far the best in this corner of the state. I am very grateful to post your stories that that have interest over here in North Central PA and I'm always happy to share my news with you if it is of interest to your readers. I know how hard you work, and the results you produce on your news blog.....and on top of all that, doing the radio thing too. You are GREAT in my book.

Anne,
I know more than most that alot of research is done by YOU before reporting. You have shed light on subjects that otherwise would have been swept under the table...other news sources have not given all sides...and this should be done-that is what a REAL reporter does. Thank you for your hard work..I appreciate you.

Thanks Kim!!!!

Anne. You kick butt. Keep kicking it. Nobody gets the REAL story quicker than you do.

It's ALWAYS better to verify before printing...

and from someone who has dealt with his share of internet criticism, I can tell you... it's not even worth listening to.

Thanks Josh! Coming from person who I know has been there -- that means a lot!!

As one of the people Anne talked to about the fire, I can verify that she got the information about the injured firemen, the evacuations and the firemen treated for heat exhaustion from me.

Anyone who would question this woman's integrity obviously does not know her. I do know her, and have known her, for more than 20 years.
