Fire Damages Ambulances, Building

A Sunday morning fire heavily damaged the Eldred Borough ambulance building. Both of the borough’s ambulances were destroyed in the fire, which broke out just after midnight Sunday. A State Police Fire marshal determined the cause of the blaze as an electrical short. An early estimate pegged the loss of the two ambulances at $260,000. Star Hose Co. of Port Allegany and the Otto Township Volunteer Fire Department will handle Eldred Borough’s coverage area for now.
