John Suspended from Gaming Corp.

Moe John, the immediate past president of the Seneca Nation of Indians, has been suspended as treasurer of the Seneca Gaming Corporation amid allegations that he and his top aide misappropriated about $120,000.

The allegations against John and Richard Frank come from an internal investigation by the Seneca treasurer's office. The findings were forwarded to Michael A. Battle, the former U.S. attorney in Buffalo who is now a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski.

Frank is a tribal councilor and can only be removed from office by impeachment.

John denies the allegations.

In a news release, Seneca treasurer Jacqueline Bowen said "The integrity of the Seneca Nation is violated when the laws that are in place to govern our people honestly and fairly are victimized. A theft from the nation's resources is a theft from its people."
