Senators Ask FEMA for Help
Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have written to FEMA in support of Governor David Paterson's request for help for Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and other counties hit by storms in the last couple of weeks.
The senators want FEMA to help with preliminary disaster assessments that will provide a comprehensive overview of the storm damage and help determine whether the state is eligible for federal funding.
Schumer said, “With a commitment from FEMA to help NYS review these damages, we can ensure that the affected counties have access to the technical resources they need to begin putting their communities back together.”
