States of Emergency
Governor David Paterson has declared a State Disaster Emergency to expedite assistance to Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Erie counties that were extensively damaged by severe thunderstorms and flooding.
Paterson says while utility crews have mobilized to restore power, the outage may last multiple days. The order he signed will allow out-of-state utility crews to get into the state faster to help get power restored.
Paterson has also asked for help from FEMA to conduct preliminary damage assessments.
