Dr. Goldstein Joins OGH Center for
Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine

Olean General Hospital’s Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine at 623 Main St. is announcing the appointment of wound treatment specialist Arthur M. Goldstein, M.D., F.C.C.W.S., F.A.C.S., to expand services for the region’s wound care needs. Dr. Goldstein will serve as medical director at the Center.

Dr. Goldstein is board-certified by the American Academy of Wound Management as a wound specialist, and the American Board of Surgery for both general surgery and vascular surgery.

“We are very pleased to have someone of Dr. Goldstein’s medical credentials and experience come to serve Olean and the surrounding communities,” said Timothy J. Finan, President and CEO of Olean General Hospital.

“With the high incidence of diabetes in our service area, ulcers and other non-healing wounds are a significant health issue,” Mr. Finan added.

The Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, located in the Dialysis/Health Services Building, is also the only Center in the area to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a process using pressurized oxygen to aid in the healing of wounds.

Under Dr. Goldstein’s direction, the Center will place special emphasis on the entire patient experience, looking at ways for treatments to help the patient as a whole.

“Many hospitals have wound treatment programs,” said Mr. Finan, “but Olean General Hospital is seeking to set a higher standard with wound care. By combining a highly credentialed wound specialist like Dr. Goldstein with the availability of hyperbaric medicine, we have the opportunity to enhance the quality of life for these patients.”

Dr. Goldstein comes to Olean from Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, N.Y., where he was director of the hospital’s wound care program.

He served a vascular fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa., from 1988-89, and a surgical residency from 1983-88 at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He earned his medical degree in 1983 at the State University of New York at Buffalo’s School of Medicine.

Dr. Goldstein will join Pierre Dionne, M.D., as a wound specialist at the Center for Wound Healing.
