Man Facing Charges for Trying to
Kick Out Window of Police Car

An Ashville man is facing several charges after trying to kick out a window of a police car following a DWI arrest.

In an e-mail sent to WESB and The HERO, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies say 25-year-old Ryan Spriggs was speeding on Fairmount Avenue in Lakewood at around 2:30 Tuesday morning. After they stopped him and charged him with DWI, they learned he had switched license plates on the car he was driving.

When he was in custody, Spriggs tried to break the window of the police car and was “physically aggressive toward deputies” and refused to comply with their instructions, leading to an additional charge of obstructing governmental administration.

He was arraigned in Busti Town Court and taken to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bond.
