BLT Offers Lighting Workshop

Bradford Little Theatre is offering a hands-on workshop for anyone interested in learning or improving lighting design or operating a lightboard on Saturday, May 22.

Appropriate for people involved with school, church or community theatre performances, the workshop will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bromeley Family Theatre on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford campus. Previous experience is not necessary.

The $15 fee includes lunch and workshop materials and lunch both days and other workshop materials. Registration, due Friday (May 14), is limited to a minimum of four people and a maximum of ten. To register, people may e-mail president@bradfordlittletheatre.org or may send a note to Bradford Little Theatre, P.O. Box 255, Bradford PA 16701.

Leader will be veteran light designer/operator Shane Oschman of Bradford, who has years of experience with BLT, Kiwanis Kapers, community theatre and Allegheny College productions.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to understand the basic creative and technical concepts of light design; understand basic styles of lights; plug and focus a light; properly determine a gel color for a light; program a light to the light board; operate a one-to-one dimmer system; understand sub-masters; set a cue; and run consecutive cues.

The workshop also aims to allow participants to exchange ideas and experiences with each other.

This is the second of several technical workshops the theatre group has planned for the next few months.

By making theatre available and accessible to the public, BLT provides opportunities for community participation, appreciation and education, thus enriching the community and increasing interest in the arts.
