Teens Accused of Burglary, Criminal Mischief

Three teenagers are accused of burglarizing the South Dayton Fireman’s Grounds and damaging several other buildings in the village in late December of last year.

16-year-old James Strawder of South Dayton, 17-year-old Christopher Lewellyn of Forestville and a person who was 15-years-old at the time of the incidents are all charged with burglary, criminal mischief and petit larceny.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies say on December 29, the three broke into the Firebelles concession stand at the Fireman’s Grounds and caused nearly $2,000 worth of damage.

They’re also accused of flipping over and smashing a Pepsi machine outside of Valley Hardware; breaking five windows at the Free Methodist Church on Pine Street; and breaking windows at the South Dayton Little League building.

Lewellyn and Strawder were released on their own recognizance and are scheduled to appear in Town of Dayton Court on June 17. The other teenager will appear in Family Court at a later date.
