Person Facing Escape Charges

A person being held at the Cameron County Sheriff’s office is now facing escape charges.

State police say the suspect, who they did not name, was in a holding cell awaiting arraignment on a separate offense when he complained of wrist pain from the handcuffs. When a sheriff’s deputy opened the cell door, the suspect pushed by him and left the cell in an attempt to escape.

A state trooper caught the suspect in the sheriff’s office and, after a brief scuffle, tased him and returned him to the holding cell.
