Several Accept Early Retirement Package

About a dozen employees of the Bradford Area School District have decided to take early retirement after the district offered an incentive package.

The employees include School Street teacher Gail Cannon and Dental Hygienist Martha Rhodes, who each have 39 years of service with the district; teachers Gail Armstrong and Linda Kemick, who each have 38 years of service; teachers Kristin Monago, Robert MacFarlane, Sam Heyler, Alicia Hill and Kathy Durner, who have between 37 and 26 years of service; and Gail Hermann, assistant principal at Bradford High.

All the resignations except Hermann’s are effective June 9. Herman’s resignation is effective June 30, or once all contractual obligations are met.

The school board is expected to accept the resignations during tonight’s meeting.

Also during tonight’s meeting, the board is expected to approve contracts for renovations projects at George G. Blaisdell Elementary School. According to the board’s agenda, the contract for general construction will go to J.C. Orr & Sons for $311,451, and for electrical construction to Tech Services Inc. for $373,821.

Also the board is expected to award a contract for the partial domestic water piping replacement for Fretz Middle School to Dosco Plumbing for $88,300.

Tonight's meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Fretz.
