Hit & Run Driver Turns Himself In

The driver in crash where 3 pedestrians were hurt early Saturday morning in Coldspring has turned himself in to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office.

43-year-old Andrew Hoffman of Salamanca is charged with assault, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.

Hoffman’s pickup first crashed into a car, which moved several feet and hit the three pedestrians. All three were seriously hurt. Two people were taken to WCA Hospital in Jamestown. The third is at ECMC. Initial reports said 5 people were hurt, but the other two were able to jump over the guide rail to avoid being hit.

Hoffman ran into the woods after the crash, but turned himself in at 2 o’clock this afternoon. He’s being held without bail in Cattaraugus County Jail.
