Toomey Launches 'Had Enough?' Program
U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today announced the launch of Had Enough?, a new constituent services program.
Had Enough? will ask Pennsylvanians to tell the senator their experiences with red tape, government waste and overregulation. Had Enough? is focused on helping Pennsylvanians, finding solutions, and making the federal government work more effectively.
Constituents can submit their ideas through the senator’s Had Enough? website at toomey.senate.gov/hadenough. The senator will select the best ideas and work to resolve these issues for Pennsylvanians.
“Through my Had Enough? public service campaign, I’m asking Pennsylvanians to tell me their experiences with unreasonable red tape, government excess and overregulation,” Sen. Toomey writes in an open letter to constituents on the Had Enough? website.
“I want to hear how federal agencies have not worked for you and how we in Washington can improve and streamline government. This isn’t about disparaging government – it’s about helping you, finding solutions, and making the federal government work more effectively for Pennsylvanians,” Sen. Toomey writes.
The Had Enough? website also shows how Pennsylvanians have already brought these suggestions to the senator and found solutions, including lowering taxes, freeing up red tape for Grove City College in Mercer County, and preserving municipalities’ historical street signs.
Sen. Toomey announced the Had Enough? public service campaign during an event in Lower Merion Township in southeast Pennsylvania Monday. Officials in several municipalities, including Scranton and Lower Merion, contacted Sen. Toomey about upcoming enforcement of a longstanding Transportation Department mandate that would require all municipalities to replace their current street signs with new signs that meet federally approved reflectivity standards.
Working with the Transportation Department, Sen. Toomey achieved a historical exemption for Lower Merion to preserve the township’s character and cast-iron street signs. And thanks to Sen. Toomey's work, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced in late August that the department would eliminate the street sign replacement mandate.
On Monday, the senator unveiled the Stopping Intrusive Government Now (SIGN) Act, which would forbid the federal government from issuing a mandatory minimum reflectivity standard for street signs and forever protect municipalities’ unique street signs.

Dear Pennsylvanians,
Since joining the Senate, I’ve traveled the state listening to you – and I’ve heard the same concerns again and again. Many Pennsylvanians want better, more sensible government, not bigger government.
Today, excessive government regulations are making it difficult for employers to hire and create jobs. Federal red tape is imposing burdensome, unfunded mandates on local cities, townships and counties. Small businesses and farmers are struggling to comply with new directives from overreaching agencies. Government waste, fraud and abuse continue eating up taxpayer dollars at a time when many households across Pennsylvania are watching every penny they spend.
Have you Had Enough?
