United Way at 80 Percent of Goal

With only 4 days left in the United Way of the Bradford Area, Inc.’s annual appeal, the organization announced today that it has raised 80% of its $325,000 goal. The campaign officially closes on December 15, but the organization’s staff will continue to accept donations until January 5, 2012.

“Last year at this time, the appeal was roughly at 75% of goal. Historically, contributions tend to slow down after employee presentations are conducted. In these final days, we rely heavily on community members to help close the gap and reach goal,” says Executive Director Megan Minich. “We still have several corporate employee campaigns left to close, which will move us closer to goal in the coming days.”

As always, United Way is stressing to the community the policy and practice of keeping 100% of the donations local. “We are committed to working to make sure we use every donor dollar to do the most good in the greater Bradford area,” continued Minich.

“As we close in on our December 15 deadline for active solicitation, we encourage our community friends and neighbors to give to United Way so that the multitude of programs supported by campaign dollars can continue to operate on into the year 2012,” added Campaign Co-Chair Christine Minich. “In the end, it isn’t only about reaching a goal, but in meeting a need. The programs supported by United Way are vital to strengthening our community and changing lives in a positive direction.”
