Revenue Collection Less Than Projected
State tax collections are nearly half a billion dollars below projected levels – a point officials hoped they wouldn’t reach for another six months.
Speaking on today’s LiveLine, State Representative Marty Causer, who is on the House Appropriations Committee, said the lower-than-expected revenues will make for a tough budget year.
"We're going to have to take a close look at all the numbers and a close look at the revenue that's coming into the state, and try to move forward with a reasonable plan," he said.
Gov. Tom Corbett will give his budget address next month but he has already imposed a pay freeze for top executive branch officials and more than 12,000 non-union managers.
