Bona Women Play on ESPN2 at 5 P.M.

PHILADELPHIA – Top-seeded St. Bonaventure (29-2) faces third-seeded Dayton (22-6) in the finals of the 2012 Buick Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship Monday evening at 5 p.m. on ESPN2. A viewing party in the Rathskeller on the University's campus will be held, and more information will be coming shortly.

Below are some news and notes for the championship game:

~ This is St. Bonaventure's first trip to the finals of the A-10 Championship; both Bonaventure and Dayton will be looking for their first A-10 title

~ The Bonnies have won 18 games in a row; they defeated #8 seed La Salle, 68-53, in the quarterfinals before dismissing #5 seed Saint Joseph's on its home floor in the semifinals, 78-52

~ Bonaventure has not trailed for a single second in either of its first two tournament games, winning the contests by a combined 41 points

~ Bonaventure leads the A-10 in defense (53 points per game), while Dayton leads the conference in offense (71 points per game); in their regular-season meeting, Bonaventure held Dayton to an A-10 season-low 55 points

~ After allowing Dayton to score 21 points in the first eight minutes in their regular-season contest, the Bonnies limited the Flyers to just 34 points over the final 32 minutes of the game; senior Megan Van Tatenhove hit the game-winning shot with 23 seconds remaining as Bonaventure erased a 15-point road deficit to claim a 56-55 victory

~ St. Bonaventure and Dayton have split their only two postseason meetings; Dayton won the last matchup, 83-66, in the 2010 quarterfinals, while Bona claimed an 82-69 victory in the first round in 1998

~ Senior Jessica Jenkins has tied her own single-season program record for made 3-pointers as she now has 100 this year – seven coming in the first two games of the tournament

~ After having five double-figure scorers in their quarterfinal game against La Salle, Van Tatenhove and Jenkins were the lone Bonnies to reach double figures against Saint Joseph's – the duo combined for 49 points, nearly outscoring Saint Joe's (52) on their own

~ In its three national TV appearances this year, St. Bonaventure has won by an average margin of 20.6 points per game, including the semifinal matchup against Saint Joseph's; in those three games, Van Tatenhove has scored 67 points (18 percent of her total scoring for the season) and Jenkins has tallied 57 (13 percent of her year's scoring)

~ Van Tatenhove's 27 points against Saint Joe's are a season high; SBU's 78 points are the third-highest it has scored in a game this year; 40 points in the paint against the Hawks is also a season-best performance

~ The quintet of double-figure scorers against La Salle in the quarterfinals marked just the second time that has happened this year (at Colgate)
