Gertrude Ernest Dies at Age 102

Gertrude L. Ernest, 102, formerly of 75 Langmaid Lane, a guest at Chapel Ridge, passed away Sunday, April 15th, 2012 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born January 13, 1910, in Stockton NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Della (Link) Briggs. She attended school in Stockton.

On November 11, 1933, in Frewsburg NY, she married Lewis W. Ernest who died on January 3, 1971.

She had worked for the Bradford Laundry & Dry Cleaning and then for Speer Resistor from where she retired.

She was a member of the West Branch Grange and the State of Pennsylvania Grange.

Surviving are two sons, Gordon (Jan) Ernest of Bradford; and William J. (Shelley) Ernest of Hernando, Fl, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, April l7, 2012 from Noon to 1:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home's Inc., South Ave. at which time funeral and committal services will be held at 1:00pm with Rev. Douglas Soley, Pastor Emeritus of Emanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
