Boat Fire on Chautauqua Lake
For the second time in less than a month a boat caught on fire on Chautauqua Lake.
Sheriff’s deputies say 68-year-old John Obey and 58-year-old Cindy Obey of Ashville were on their boat at 9:30 this morning when they saw smoke coming from the engine bay.
John Obey opened the compartment and learned the boat was on fire. He was able to put the fire out, but was burned in the process.
Personnel from the Lakewood Fire Department helped the Obeys get back to shore. John Obey was treated at WCA Hospital for a burned finger.
On Memorial Day, two people were hurt when their boat caught on fire.
