Port Allegany Man Arrested for Stalking

A Port Allegany man is in jail for stalking and other charges after allegedly following a woman from Port to Bradford and putting them in fear for their safety.

Bradford City Police got a call at about 12:15 this morning saying there was a disturbance in front of their station. They arrived to find the woman and her children distraught, and learned that 29-year-old Geromia Schoonover was driving recklessly while following them.

In Bradford, the woman drove to the police station “honking her horn in an attempt to draw attention.” One of the children then ran from the vehicle to the vestibule of the station and pounded on the door and glass. Schoonover fled the area before police arrived, but later surrendered in Port Allegany. Police say surveillance video at their station is consistent with the victim’s statement.

Schoonover was arraigned by District Judge Rich Luther on charges of stalking, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, reckless driving, careless driving and following too closely. Luther set bail at $50,000 cash.

The public should be made aware they should go to one of the two fire stations, they are manned 24/7, the police could then be sent there and the firefighters could offer protection until they arrive.
