Father, Son Stuck in Swamp
A father and son had to be rescued from a swamp at the edge of Bear Lake when they were deer hunting Monday afternoon.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies say 55-year-old Brian Meyer and 20-year-old Patrick Meyer, both of Dunkirk, got stuck in the mud at about 2 p.m. and used a cell phone to call for help.
The Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team and Stockton Fire Department say the rescue was difficult because of the mud and trees.
The father was taken by ambulance to Brooks Memorial Hospital for treatment of hypothermia. The son was treated at the scene.
