Shed Demolished in Moody Hollow Crash

A Smethport man escaped injury, but is facing charges, after his pickup truck demolished a shed and damaged a couple of cars last night at the intersection of Route 446 and Moody Hollow Road.

Police say at about 11:15 p.m. 34-year-old Jon Howard didn’t stop at a stop sign, and then traveled across both lanes of 446, hit a wooden shed, causing the debris to fly toward a car parked in a driveway. The pickup drove through the shed, demolishing it, and pushing it into a parked pickup truck, which was then pushed into a metal shed.

Howard’s truck stopped, but police say he then put it in reverse and spun the tires in an attempt to leave the scene. But, as he was backing up, the truck hit a concrete wishing well and got stuck in a drainage ditch. Then, he activated the four-wheel-drive, spun all four tires, freed the truck and fled the scene.

He’s cited for a number of offenses including failure to give information and render aid.
