The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in October that a judge didn't properly consider arguments from 35-year-old Michael Begin's defense attorney that the sentence might be too harsh, so Begin is scheduled to be sentenced again today in federal court in Erie.
Begin pleaded guilty to attempting to seduce the girl and sending obscene material to her. The girl’s mother saw the messages and contacted the FBI. An agent then used the girl's cellphone and MySpace account to keep in touch with Begin, who was arrested at the Bradford McDonald’s, where he arranged to meet the girl in February 2010.
