1-Year-Old Dies from Crash Injuries

The 1-year-old boy injured in an accident Wednesday on Interstate 86 has died in Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Achilles McBride was first taken to UMPC Hamot, but later transferred to the Pittsburgh Hospital, where he died Saturday.

The accident happened at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Town of Mina when a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Matthew McBride of Westfield, PA, hit the back of a tractor-trailer that had pulled off the road because of poor visibility.

McBride was treated at UPMC Hamot and released. A second passenger in his car, 28-year-old Esmeralda McBride, was first taken to Hamot, but is now in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, 52-year-old Dale Legg of Medina, Ohio, was not hurt. Sheriff’s deputies say no charges will be filed.
