High-Speed Chase Lands Man in Jail

A high-speed chase from Olean to Tack’s Inn landed a Williamsport man in McKean County Jail.

At around 10:30 Saturday night Olean City Police stopped 22-year-old Douglas Goodwin for a minor traffic violation but then, police say, he hit the police car and sped off. The pursuit went into Pennsylvania by way of Olean Road, then continued onto Derrick Road* and eventually onto Route 219 South in the northbound lane.

Olean City, Bradford City, Bradford Township and New York State Police were also chasing Goodwin. Pennsylvania state Police put up a tire deflation devide at the intersection of routes 219 and 59. Police say after the tires on Goodwin’s car deflated he kept going but was eventually taken into custody.

He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police. Goodwin’s bail is set at $25,000.

*Although the police report says Derrick Road, witnesses tell us Goodwin actually drove down Nichols Run Road and went through Limestone to get to Route 219.
