Board Approves Stronger Oil, Gas Regulations

The Pennsylvania Environmental Quality Board has approved a proposed regulation aimed at strengthening environmental protection and performances standard related to oil and gas activities.

The proposal includes provisions that enhance the consideration of impacts to parks and wildlife areas; the prevention of spills, waste management; and restoration of well sites after drilling.

This is the first comprehensive update of the state’s oil and gas laws in nearly 30 years.
