Bradford Man Kills Himself in Prison
A Bradford man who tried to solicit sex from a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl has killed himself in prison.
54-year-old James Whitman was found unresponsive in his cell at SCI-Albion on Sunday afternoon, and later pronounced dead. He had been at the prison since January 15.
Whitman was serving a sentence of 40 months to 10 years for trying to solicit sex from the person he thought was a teenager, but was actually an agent with the state attorney general’s office. He was arrested on December 1, 2006, in Erie when he showed up for a meeting he thought would be with the child.
