Five Hurt in Fiery Crash

Two vehicles caught on fire during a crash on Saturday, and the drivers and passengers were pulled to safety by witnesses. But they all had to be taken to hospitals for treatment of severe injuries.

Police say 44-year-old Robert Wiseman of Hyde was on Route 153 in Pine Township when he attempted to pass another vehicle, but his SUV went out of control, and traveled into oncoming traffic where it was hit by a car driven by 48-year-old Rebecca Towne of Ridgway.

Wiseman, Towne and Towne’s passengers, 51-year-old David Towne, 22-year-old Katlin Wolfe and a 17-year-old boy, all of Ridgway, were all trapped inside the burning vehicles.

Route 153 was closed for several hours during the investigation and cleanup.
