Kane Man Falls Asleep at the Wheel

A Kane man who apparently fell asleep at the wheel early Sunday morning is facing a number of charges.

Police say at 5 a.m. Travis Geer was on Route 6 near Carter Lumber when he fell asleep, causing his vehicle to cross three lanes of travel and hit a tree and a chain link fence surrounding property owned by Carter Lumber.

Geer left the scene on foot and didn’t report the accident to police. He’s charged with a number of traffic violations as well as not notifying police of an accident.

The vehicle, the fence and a tree on Carter Lumber property were all severely damaged.
