Phony Doctor Sent to Prison

The man who passed himself off as a doctor in Wellsville has been sentenced to two years in prison.

53-year-old Anthony Hudson lied about his qualifications to practice medicine when he applied for a job at Jones Memorial Hospital.

The US Attorney’s Office says evidence shows Hudson treated a five-year-old Wellsville girl who died shortly after seeing him. That case is now part of a wrongful death civil suit. They also say he was negligent and incompetent when treating at least five other patients.

Hudson, who is originally from Michigan, has also been ordered to pay more than a quarter of a million dollars to insurance companies who paid for his services for their customers.
