Ex-Accountant Gets Home Detention

A former accountant for Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie will spend the next 12 months on home detention and the next four years on probation for making nearly $100,000 worth of purchases for herself on the hospital’s credit and debit cards.

34-year-old Julie Wozniak make more than 60 unauthorized credit card purchases and 22 debit card transactions, using the hospital’s money to pay for a cruise, Broadway tickets, Apple products and airfare for trips, as well as to make payments for her own credit card.

Wozniak also had a private accounting company called Keeping You Balanced, and took money at least one client there as well by having him set up a bank account for her to use so she could sent payroll taxes to the IRS for him. She took the money for herself instead, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
