A man has admitted to distributing indecent material to minors in two counties earlier this year. 24-year-old Shawn Washington was in Cattaraugus County Court Monday, when he admitted to the August incident. He’ll be sentenced March 9. Today, he admitted in Allegany County Court that he violated probation on several occasions when he handed out the materials in September in Belmont. He was sentenced to 2 ½ to 7 years in state prison. He was on probation for a string of burglaries in Allegany County in 2012. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A school prank led to charges against a teenage student. State police were called to the Belmont BOCES Center in the Town of Amity for a report of a student who intentionally put a bag of nails on a seat in a classroom. The 17-year-old from Amity is charged with reckless endangerment and is scheduled to appear in Amity Town Court on Wednesday. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

An 11-year-old boy has been arrested on a sexual abuse charge. Amity-based state police say the Belmont boy was arrested on April 21 for an incident that happened on April 20 in Amity. He’s facing a felony charge of first-degree sexual abuse. The boy has been issued an appearance ticket.
