Route 62 in the Russell area was closed for about an hour Saturday evening after a tractor-trailer hit a pickup truck and both of them ended up blocking the road. No one was hurt in the crash. Police say the pickup driven by 28-year-old Jerry Rhoades of Sugar Grove was stopped on Route 62, waiting to make a left turn into Werner Park, when it was hit from behind by the tractor-trailer, driven by 25-year-old Aaron Phillips of Brahnport, New York. The tractor-trailer eventually stopped just past Werner Park, blocking both lanes. The pickup was blocking the northbound lane. The road was closed while the wreckage was being removed. HARRISBURG – Reps. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango/Butler) and Kathy Rapp (R-Warren/McKean/Forest) today applauded Gov. Tom Corbett, who signed into law a measure renaming a section of U.S. Route 62 that runs through Forest, Venango and Warren counties in honor of military veterans. “This stretch of road will serve as a constant reminder of the men and women in uniform who served to maintain our country’s freedom,” Hutchinson said. “Their sacrifices should never be forgotten.” The law renames the portion of U.S. Route 62 that runs through Venango County as the Venango County Veterans Highway. It similarly renames the road the Forest County Veterans Highway and Warren County Veterans Highway in those two counties. While Rapp and Hutchinson originally introduced stand-alone legislation (House Bill 2243) to rename the three stretches of highway, their proposal was eventually amended into another comprehensive measure, House Bill 2460, which renames roads across the Commonwealth ...

A Kane man suffered minor injuries in a crash Sunday morning on Route 62 in Warren County. Police say Dennis Ewing was traveling north at 7 a.m. when the road got icy and his pickup truck went out of control, left the road, hit an embankment and rolled back onto the road on its roof.
