Big Concerts Returning to The Ralph

Image
It’s been more than 13 years since a concert has been held at Ralph Wilson Stadium, but they’re bringing back the tradition in a big way. One Direction will headline a show on September 3. The last concert at The Ralph was Dave Matthews on June 20, 2001. *N Sync also appeared that year. More than 30 concerts have been held at The Ralph – previously Rich Stadium – since 1974, including Elton John, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones and The Who. “We couldn’t be happier that the first show at Ralph Wilson Stadium in over a decade is superstar group, One Direction,” Live Nation President of Connecticut & Upstate NY Jim Koplik said in a news release. “We expect the show to be a huge success and open the door for future concerts at the Ralph.” Tickets will go on sale November 1, but Bills premium seat holders will have pre-sale opportunities. Two men were hurt after one fell from the upper deck of Ralph Wilson Stadium and fell onto a group of people below. The man in the upper deck was sliding on a railing at the edge of the 300 Level of the stadium when he fell off, and onto a group of people in the 200 Level. The Bills organization says the man who fell, and another man, were taken to a hospital for observation. The incident happened during the second quarter of the Bills/Jets game, which the Bills won. No More Smoking at The Ralph

Image
If there is an NFL season this year, Bills fans will have an hour less tailgating time before the game, and they won’t be able to smoke inside the stadium. The Bills announced today that they will be opening the parking lot gates four hours before a game, instead of five hours as they had in the past. The gates will still close two hours after the game. The team also announced that Ralph Wilson Stadium will be a smoke-free facility effective later this month. There will no longer be designated smoking areas inside The Ralph and, because the Bills don’t allow fans to leave the stadium and come back later, smokers will not be allowed to come back in if they leave the stadium to smoke.
