Smethport Gets Loan for Water Improvements

The Smethport Borough Authority has been selected to receive an $805,000 low-interest loan to make major improvements to their water system, according to Senator Joe Scarnati (R-25). Scarnati said the loan was awarded through the state’s PENNVEST Program which provides low-interest loans and grants for the design, engineering and construction of drinking water distribution facilities, storm water conveyance and wastewater treatment and collection systems. The Smethport Borough Authority will utilize the funding to construct a new screening facility to remove debris upstream of the combined sewer overflow regulator. A washer compacter will also be installed. Foster Township Gets PENNVEST Loan for
Sanitary Sewer Extension Project

(News Release) HARRISBURG – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) today announced approval of a $4.8 million loan by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for the Foster Township Sanitary Sewer Extension Project. The project will extend public sewer to 335 structures in the township and eliminate malfunctioning on-lot sewer systems in the area. “A safe and reliable infrastructure is vital to efforts to facilitate growth and improve quality of life in our community,” Causer said. “This is an important investment in our future.” The project includes the installation of 100,000 linear feet of low-pressure gravity collection main, 2,100 linear feet of gravity sewer, two pump stations, 335 individual grinder pumps and all related equipment. The term of the loan is 20 years with an interest rate of 1 percent for the first five years and a rate of 1.743 percent beginning in the sixth year through maturity. Area Water Companies Get Money

Two facilities in the 25th Senatorial District have been awarded a total of $3.145 million in low-interest loans to make major improvements to their water systems, according to Senator Joe Scarnati (R-25). Scarnati said the loans were awarded through the state’s PENNVEST Program. The Emporium Water Company in Emporium, Cameron County, and the Huston Township Water Authority in Penfield, Clearfield County were selected to receive the funding. Emporium Water Company will utilize its $2.5 million loan to complete updates, including installation of a 10,000 gallon finished water tank, pump station and waterline in the Sylvan Heights area. A 500,000 gallon finished water tank and transmission will also be constructed near Britton Road in Shippen Township. The project includes rehabilitation of the Wheaton tank and system-wide upgrades as well. The City of Warren today has been awarded $24 million through a grant and low interest loan to complete a wastewater treatment plant and pump stations improvement project that will protect local water supplies, according to Senator Joe Scarnati. Scarnati said this major funding initiative was awarded through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) program. The total amount of the project is $24,525,000. Of that amount $4,508,277 of the funding will be awarded as a grant, $19,491,723 in the form of a low interest loan and $525,000 from the local contribution. The City of Warren’s wastewater treatment facility serves four municipalities. This extensive improvement project will bring the City of Warren into compliance with Pennsylvania’s Clean Water Act and Clean Streams Act. Galeton Receives PENNVEST Loan

HARRISBURG – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) on Wednesday announced a $520,127 loan has been awarded to the Galeton Borough Authority by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST). A major sewer expansion project in McKean County that will eliminate on-going contamination problems and allow for future economic development in the area around the intersection of Routes 6 and 219 was awarded $4.8 million in state funding today (July 18), according to state Senator Joe Scarnati. The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) approved a $2,383,827 grant and a $2,424,173 low-interest loan for Hamlin Township, according to Senator Scarnati. Sanitary Authority Gets $18.7 Million

The Bradford Sanitary Authority has been awarded a state grant and a low-interest loan totaling more than $18.7 million to complete the second phase of upgrades to its wastewater treatment plant, according to Senator Joe Scarnati. Scarnati said the loan of $15.59 million and grant of $3.14 million were awarded through the state’s PENNVEST Program and announced today.
