Taglianetti Sentenced to 25 Years to Life

The man who killed Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed will spend 25 years to life in prison. Anthony Robert Taglianetti was sentenced this morning in Chautauqua County Court. In November, a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder for shooting and killing Reed outside his home in August of 2012. Taglianetti killed Reed because of a relationship between Reed and Taglianetti’s estranged wife. After the trial jurors said the most compelling piece of evidence was Reed’s blood on a gun that was wrapped in a printed-out email between Reed and Mary Taglianetti. Jury Selection Put on Hold

Jury selection in the Anthony Taglianetti murder trial has been put on hold again. The defense requested a continuance, which the judge granted. Jury selection will continue tomorrow. Since jury selection started on September 19 only six people have been seated. Lawyers are trying to choose 12 jurors and four alternates. Taglianetti is charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. last September. Twist in Taglianetti Trial

There’s a twist in the murder trial for Anthony Taglianetti. Jury selection had been scheduled to start this morning, but that’s been moved to Thursday because the Chautauqua County Public Defender has found out about new information that he says is crucial to the case. Ned Barone says he learned that the new information was given to the district attorney’s office in March or April, but not to the public defender’s office. He didn’t elaborate on that information. A hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon to decide what to do about the information. Taglianetti is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. last September because he believed Reed was in a relationship with his estranged wife. Taglianetti Jury Selection Set for Sept. 17

Jury selection for the trial of Anthony Taglianetti is scheduled to start next Tuesday. Taglianetti is accused of killing Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. last September. He allegedly drove from his home in Virginia to Chautauqua County because he believed his estranged wife was in a relationship with Reed. Taglianetti went back to Virginia after the shooting and was found in Virginia eight days later. He originally fought extradition, but was returned to Chautauqua County late last year. Taglianetti in Court Today

The man accused of killing Clymer Schools Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. in September is back in court today for pre-trial hearings. Anthony Taglianetti’s attorney requested the hearings because the public defender’s office has taken issue with search warrants issued and executed in Virginia, where Taglianetti was found several days after the shooting. The public defender’s office is also taking issue with how evidence was gathered. Prosecutors believe Taglianetti shot Reed because he thought Reed was having an affair with his ex-wife. Taglianetti Pleads Not Guilty

The man accused of shooting and killing Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. has pleaded not guilty in Chautauqua County Court. 42-year-old Anthony Robert Taglianetti, who is charged with second-degree murder, did not speak during the court proceedings that lasted less than five minutes. His lawyer, a county public defender, entered the plea on his behalf. Bail has been set at $2.5 million. Investigators believe Taglianetti traveled from his home in Virginia to kill Reed because he believed Reed was having a relationship with his estranged wife. Taglianetti Returning to New York Today

The Virginia man accused of shooting and killing Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. will be back in Chautauqua County today. Sheriff Joe Gerace says two deputies went to Virginia on Monday to pick up Anthony Robert Taglianetti, and they are expected to be back in New York by 3 or 4 o’clock this afternoon. The 42-year-old will be taken to the county jail today, and is scheduled for his first court appearance in Chautauqua County tomorrow morning. He will be arraigned on a charge of second-degree murder. Taglianetti is accused of shooting Reed outside his Clymer home back in September because he believed Reed had a relationship with his estranged wife. Taglianetti who, at first, refused to waive extradition, has been jailed in Prince William County, Virginia, since he was captured a week after the shooting. Taglianetti Won't Fight Extradition

The man accused of fatally shooting Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. back in September could be back in Chautauqua County this week. District Attorney David Foley says in a news release that Anthony Robert Taglianetti failed to file a writ of habeas corpus in Prince William County, Va., where he is being held. Taglianetti, who refused to waive extradition proceedings after he was picked up in Virginia on September 28, is eligible for an “immediate return” to Chautauqua County to face a charge of second-degree murder. Sheriff Joe Gerace says his office his making arrangements to pick up Taglianetti. Reed was found dead September 24 outside his home. Taglianetti was named as a suspect a couple of days later, and was picked up the next day. Taglianetti Hearing Scheduled

A hearing date has been scheduled for the man accused of shooting Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. The extradition hearing for 42-year-old Anthony Robert Taglianetti is scheduled for December 21 in Prince William County, Virginia, but it’s possible he could be returned to Chautauqua County before then. District Attorney David Foley says the Virginia Commonwealth Attorney’s Office has received Governor Andrew Cuomo’s warrant for Taglianetti’s arrest. Now it’s up to Virginia officials to issue a warrant there. Taglianetti would then have 10 days to file a motion to fight extradition. If he doesn’t, authorities can take him back to New York immediately. If he does file a motion the hearing will be held. Taglianetti is accused of shooting and killing Reed outside his Clymer home on the weekend of September 21. He was captured in his home state of Virginia on September 28.

During a hearing this morning in Virginia, the 42-year-oldl man charged with second-degree murder in the death of Clymer Schools Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. did not waive extradition. Sheriff Joe Gerace says Taglianetti will remain jailed in Prince William County, Virginia, until an extradition hearing can be held. Gerace says that could take up to 30 days. District Attorney David Foley is handling extradition procedures. Taglianetti was picked up in Virginia Friday, a week after he allegedly shot and killed Reed outside his Clymer home. Taglianetti in Custody

Sheriff Joseph A. Gerace and District Attorney David Foley announce that Anthony Robert (“Rob”) Taglianetti, II has been apprehended Mr. Taglianetti was located by the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force and the Shenandoah Valley County Sheriff’s Office late this afternoon near the Shenandoah Valley National Park in the State of Virginia and was taken into custody without incident. Deputy U.S. Marshal John Doss and Harrisonburg Police Officer were partnered up as part of a fugitive task force. They were patrolling areas that they thought the suspect may be in and spotting his moving vehicle. Taglianetti was stopped and taken into custody. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Investigators and Prince William County Detectives are continuing their investigation in Virginia.

Suspect Named in Reed Murder

A Virginia man has been named as the suspect in the killing of Clymer School District Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. Anthony Robert Taglianetti is considered armed and dangerous, according to Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace who held a news conference this afternoon along with District Attorney David Foley. They believe he is in Virginia now, but have put out a nationwide alert. Gerace and Foley said the murder has nothing to do with Reed’s job, but was not a random act of violence. They believe they know the reason Taglianetti killed Reed, but are not disclosing that because it’s an ongoing investigation. They say they know Taglianetti was in Clymer in Friday, and they believe that’s when Reed was killed. Foley says the main purpose of the news conference was to find Taglianetti. Keith L. Reed Jr., age 51, of Clymer, New York, formerly of Salamanca, New York, died Friday evening, September 21, 2012 at his home. Born June 3, 1961 in Olean, New York, he was the son of Keith Sr. and Shirley Spink Reed, of 63 Adams Street, Salamanca, New York, who survive. Mr. Reed was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1979. He earned his bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University and two master's degrees, one in education, and the other in administration from Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA. He was enrolled in the Superintendant Development Program through Oswego State University. He began his career in 1984 as a business and distributive education teacher at Horseheads Central School. He became the intervention specialist for Horseheads High school in 1995. In 1997, he was appointed assistant principal at Campbell Savona Middle / High School, and then assistant high school principal in Horseheads in 2000. In 2005, Mr. Reed became principal fo...
