Jerry Sandusky’s latest appeal process is underway. Sandusky was not at the meeting in the Centre County Courthouse, where Judge John Cleland, met with the convicted child molester’s new lawyer, along with prosecutors. Cleland gave the new lawyer until early May to revise what’s already been submitted to the court for this appeal. Prosecutors will then have 30 days to respond. They also discussed how much of the original grand jury testimony can be used in the appeal. Much of it has remained sealed by a 2012 court order. Sandusky has been jailed since June 2012 when he was convicted on 45 child sex-abuse charges. He could be behind bars for up to 60 years. Two Buffalo-area men are accused of trafficking $20,000 worth of cocaine near Penn State. Attorney General Kathleen Kane says 20-year-old Evan Poling and 28-year-old Eduardo “Eddie” Rivera, both of Amherst, New York, were arrested Saturday when they showed up at a predetermined location, where agents seized seven ounces of cocaine with a street value of $20,000. Authorities say the amount of cocaine is significant for State College, where one gram of cocaine typically sells for $100. Poling and Rivera are in Centre County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail each. The investigation into cocaine distribution in the region is continuing and additional charges are expected. A line of severe thunderstorms raced through McKean County this afternoon, pounding Relay for Life participants at Pitt-Bradford with rain and wind, and temporarily flooding Congress Street in the city. In Annin Township, the storms knocked down trees and power lines, closing Annin Creek Road. In Chautauqua County, Pomfret, Brocton and Portland all saw flooding. The American Red Cross set up a shelter at Brocton Central School to house residents of 45 evacuated homes. The shelter was closed late this afternoon after the people were told they could return to their homes. The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down in Centre County on Thursday. The tornado was at least 1½ miles long and 75 yards wide with winds reaching 100 mph. Water may be deeper than it appears. UPDATE: State Police spokeswoman Maria Finn said the woman is Tracie Miscavish. Finn says she filed for divorce from her husband, Mark Miscavish, two days ago. He had retired in 2011 after 15 years on the force . A retired state police trooper shot and killed his estranged wife and then himself this morning at a grocery store in Phillipsburg. State Police say the shooting happened at about 9:30 at the Country Market. Police are continuing their investigation and say they will release more information during a news conference later today.
