Bodamer Named MaxPreps All-American

Port Allegany quarterback Matt Bodamer has been named a MaxPreps Small School All-American. The Pennsylvania Football News and Gatorade had already named Bodamer the State Player of the Year after he became the state's career yardage leader with 10,948 yards. This year he completed 227 of 323 passes for 3,951 yards and 52 touchdowns. CHICAGO (November 29, 2012) — In its 28th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, today announced Matt Bodamer of Port Allegany High School as its 2012-13 Gatorade Pennsylvania Football Player of the Year. Bodamer is the first Gatorade Pennsylvania Football Player of the Year to be chosen from Port Allegany High School. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Bodamer as Pennsylvania’s best high school football player. Bodamer Owns New State Record

Port Allegany's Matt Bodamer needed 313 yards to set a new state record for career passing yardage. He got that and then some in the Gators' 55-20 win over Brockway Saturday afternoon. Bodamer threw for 347 yards and 5 touchdowns. The previous record was held by Derek Buganza of Brockway. Tyce Miller had three receptions for 106 yards, including one touchdown. Nick Conway caught three touchdown passes. Bodamer added 61 rushing yards on six carries, including two touchdowns. Nick Conway had three scores for the Gators. Trent Neal and Rickie Bova accounted for the other scores, one rushing, the other receiving.
