Two Jailed for Selling Drugs

Two Salamanca residents are in Cattaraugus County Jail for selling drugs to undercover agents with the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force in Randolph. 21-year-old Michael Doner is accused of selling heroin. 37-year-old Mary Mosley is accused of selling cocaine. Man Jailed for Selling Heroin

A man has been picked up by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force for selling heroin. The task force says 19-year-old Brian Doner of Randolph sold the drug earlier this year on two separate occasions in the village. Doner is charged with two felony counts each of criminal possession of and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was sent to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Two Sentenced for ANF Pot-Growing Operation

Two men have been sentenced for growing marijuana on the Allegheny National Forest. 59-year-old William Kamholz of Frewsburg was sentenced in federal court to time served, and was fined $2,000. 62-year-old James Leach of Randolph was sentenced to one day in jail and nine months of home detention. He was fined $3,000. The McKean County Drug Task Force arrested Kamholtz in September of 2012 after stopping his vehicle and finding duffel bags containing marijuana he had harvested from the forest. In October of 2012, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s deputies and the US Forest Service searched Leach’s home and found a drying room with about 23 pounds of marijuana in it. According to information presented to the court, Kamholtz and Leach conspired to manufacture and possessed with intent to distribute marijuana plants. Woman Caught Forging Prescription

A woman got caught trying to forge a prescription when she made the dosage of the medication too high. State troopers say 23-year-old Lindsay Brown of Randolph took a prescription to a pharmacy but was told it couldn’t be filled because no amount was indicated. She returned a short time later, saying the doctor had “fixed” the prescription and added a dosage amount, but the pharmacist noted that the amount was too high. Troopers later learned that the prescription slip had been stolen from a local doctor. Brown is charged with grand larceny and possession of a forged instrument. Teen Jailed for Trespassing

A 16-year-old was sent to Cattaraugus County Jail after leaving a children’s home and breaking into a school early Saturday morning. Sheriff’s deputies say the Irving, New York, girl left the Randolph Children’s Home at about 2:25 a.m. and broke into the Randolph Academy through a door leading to the basement. Teen Girl Charged with Assault

A 13-year-old is accused of assaulting a staff member at the Randolph Children’s Home Monday night. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office says the girl hit a staff member in the mouth causing injury, but not requiring medical attention. The incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. Before police arrived, staff members had restrained her in an effort to calm her down. The girl was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree criminal contempt. She will appear in Cattaraugus County Family Court. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Man Seriously Hurt in Little Valley Crash

Charges are pending following three-vehicle crash that seriously injured a Randolph man. Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies say 52-year-old Scott Brown was driving his car south on Rock City Street (Route 353) in Little Valley at 7:10 this morning when he rear-ended a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Brock Doberstein of Little Valley. The then went into the northbound lane and hit another pickup truck, this one driven by William Andrews of Salamanca. Brown, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC in Buffalo for treatment of serious head and chest injuries. The other drivers were not hurt. Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police also learned there was an active warrant against him from City of Jamestown Court. He was sent to Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

By Kiara Catanzaro SBU ’15 St. Bonaventure University will host its 28th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29. Local high school girls and their coaches will participate in sporting event programs throughout the day with St. Bonaventure’s female student-athletes and staff. The event, sponsored by the School of Education, the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Athletics, the Department of Military Science and the Visiting Scholars Program, will host 15 school districts including 400 women student-athletes along with their coaches and teachers. Students from the following school districts will attend: Allegany-Limestone, Archbishop Walsh, Austin Area Schools, Bath, Bolivar-Richburg, Bradford, Cuba-Rushford, Fillmore, Franklinville, Jamestown-Lutheran, Portville, Randolph, Seneca Nation, South Park and Southwestern. Sexual Abuse Charges Dropped

Sexual abuse charges against a school bus driver accused of having inappropriate contact with a child have been dropped, but the man has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child. 67-year-old John Hitchcock of Randolph had been accused of abusing young boy on a number of occasion between September and October of 2012 between Randolph and Ashville. Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley says he made the plea deal so the young victim would not have to testify in court, but Hitchcock would still be held accountable. Three Burglars Appear in Court

Three people appeared in Cattaraugus County on burglary charges. 20-year-old Wayne Wright of Randolph will spend a year in jail for breaking into a Town of Randolph building between June 3 and 9 of 2012. 29-year-old Tarik Ramadhan of West Valley will spend 5 years on probation for breaking into a Town of Yorkshire building on May 1 of last year. 34-year-old Sandra Sherlock of Olean pleaded guilty to breaking into a Town of Allegany building and stealing property on October 17. Man Gets Three Years' Probation for
Leaving Scene of Fatal Accident

A man charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident in Randolph has been sentenced in Cattaraugus County Court to three years’ probation. 25-year-old Benjamin Goon of Jamestown hit 17-year-old Federico Flores in the early morning hours of October 10, 2010, when Flores was walking home from work at a dairy farm. The accident happened at the intersection of Route 394 and School House Road. Goon told prosecutors he got out to see what he had hit, but didn’t see anything so he left. A passing motorist found Flores’s body about eight hours later. Goon had originally been charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident, but was sentenced for a misdemeanor. Cops: Man Broke into House, Assaulted Person

A man is accused of breaking into a Randolph house and assaulting a person inside. Sheriff’s deputies say at about 9 o’clock Saturday night 23-year-old Kevin Callahan of Salamanca kicked in the door of the house and then assaulted the person. Fire Destroys Randolph Barn

Fire destroyed a barn in Randolph this morning, but none of the animals inside was hurt. The fire was reported at around 10:30 this morning in the barn that housed two cows and two horses, as well as several vehicles. A church and a house next door to the barn had minor damage from the fire because wind pushed the flames into those buildings. Five fire departments battled the blaze and the Cattaraugus County Fire Investigation Team has been called in to determine the cause of the blaze. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Bus Driver Pleads Not Guilty to Sex Abuse

A school bus driver for the Randolph Central School District has pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing a child. 66-year-old John Hitchcock is accused of sexually abusing a boy younger than 13 on a number of occasion between September and October of last year between Randolph and Ashville. He is charged with seven counts of sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Hitchcock is jailed on $50,000 cash bail. The school district placed him on administrative leave. Law enforcement and child advocacy centers in both Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties investigated the case. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Bus Driver Charged with Sexual Abuse

A bus driver for the Randolph Central School District is accused of sexually abusing a boy. 66-year-old John Hitchcock allegedly had sexual conduct with the child, who is younger than 13, on multiple occasions. He is charged with seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incidents happened in September and October of last year between Randolph and Ashville. Hitchcock is in the Chautauqua County Jail and has been placed on administrative leave by the school district. Randolph Man Got 'Combative' with Deputies

A Randolph man is accused of getting combative with sheriff’s deputies while they were attempting to serve a warrant on another person. Deputies say at 3:30 Saturday morning they were attempting to serve the warrant when 27-year-old Derrick Pauley got verbally combative and was acting in a threatening manner toward them. Man Allegedly Drove 105 mph on I-86

A Jamestown man is facing charges after allegedly driving 105 mph on Interstate 86 in the Town of Randolph Monday night. State police say 20-year-old Lawrence Walsh failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with possession of alcohol under the age of 21 after police found a 16-ounce can of beer in his car. Walsh is scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court on February 28. Video Captures Theft from Store

A Randolph, New York, man is facing charges for stealing from the Peaches and Cream store in Randolph. 32-year-old Brian Green was caught on video taking about $28 in cash and six bags of corn valued at about $42, according to sheriff's deputies. The allegedly incidents happened at just before noon on January 3 and at around 10:40 a.m. on January 9. Green was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Randolph Court. Teen Arrested for Stealing Vehicles

A Randolph, New York, teenager is in jail for allegedly stealing motor vehicles. Sheriff’s deputies charged 16-year-old Dylan Davis with two counts of grand larceny. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Town of Randolph Court and sent to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
