Students in the interdisciplinary arts program choose two arts areas to study and must integrate skills from both arts into their final project. All projects are free and open to the public. Kong Ho, associate professor of art and interdisciplinary arts program director said, “It seems that just yesterday, I was watching our six interdisciplinary arts graduates searching for their individual directions, and now here they are with their nearly completed very strong and well-developed capstone projects. I am very pleased to see how they have integrated visual and performing art into their unique capstone projects which transgress the boundaries between these two historically distinct but currently converging forms of art.” The week beg...

Digital photography will be showcased for the first time in the eighth annual student exhibition beginning Friday, Nov. 5, at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. “Affairs of the Art,” part of the university’s Spectrum Series, will run through Friday, Dec. 3, in the KOA Art Gallery in Blaisdell Hall. An opening reception will take place at noon Nov. 5 in the KOA Speer Electronics Lobby. “Photography has been a popular art form and activity on our campus,” said Kong Ho, director of the interdisciplinary arts and the art programs and associate professor of art. “We have several student photography competition activities organized by our Art Club and displayed in the Frame-Westerberg Commons in the past two years. “However, it will be the first time for displaying some excellent photographs in our KOA Art Gallery. With thousands of paintbrush strokes over the weekend, Ohio artists with disabilities created a mural marking the anniversary of that federal law (the Americans with Disabilities Act). An article by Kong Ho, associate professor of art at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, about two local murals appears in the current issue of Teaching Artist Journal. The Teaching Artist Journal is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Taylor and Francis Group. The article, titled “Mural Painting as Inclusive Art Learning Experience,” presents two case studies of murals Ho worked on in the Bradford community, one in Blaisdell Hall on campus and the other at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School. The article gives historical, theoretical and practical insights into the role mural painting can play in inclusive education. The Blaisdell Hall mural was designed and painted by Ho and 10 Pitt-Bradford students in 2008. Most of the students had no art experience.
