Two people were found with heroin Friday night in the Save A Lot parking lot in Salamanca. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force says they searched a car that 25-year-old Jeremy Foster of Salamanca was a passenger in and learned he had a quantity of heroin. He was wanted for selling drugs in December in the city. Also during the search, they found that 31-year-old Joshua Turybury of Little Valley had heroin. A third person was released from the police department for medical reasons. Police say the investigating is continuing and more arrests are pending. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Harrisburg – The Wolf Administration today announced that the Pennsylvania State Police would begin carrying the life-saving opioid overdose reversal antidote, naloxone. Naloxone, also known by the brand name “Narcan” is a prescription medicine that rapidly reverses heroin and other opioid overdoses. Heroin and opioid overdose are the leading cause of accidental death in Pennsylvania, killing more people than fatal motor vehicle accidents. In 2013, about 2,400 Pennsylvanians died from a drug overdose. “Pennsylvanians are dying every day from drug overdose, so it is critical to have naloxone in the hands of our state police and first responders who may be first on the scene of an overdose situation,” said the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Acting Secretary Gary Tennis. “We are grateful for the donations and support that we have received from the health insurance community to ensure we have naloxone available statewide. Some moms will do anything for their kids, but one Pittsburgh mother is facing up to 20 years in prison for helping her son. The thing is, 45-year-old Carrie Robinson decided that while her son was in jail for selling heroin, she’d keep his business going and sell what he had left. A 29-year-old repeat felon will spend six years in prison for selling heroin. Franklin Chase of Olean sold the drug in Olean last march. He was sentenced Monday in Cattaraugus County Court. Heroin, a weapon and marijuana were found during a raid of a Salamanca house. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force found the drugs and a .40-caliber Glock 27 handgun at 94 Jefferson Street, where they arrested 19-year-old Thomas Oldshield. Police say the serial number of the gun had been removed. They also found, and removed, ammunition for the gun. They also found counterfeit money. A woman accused of selling heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone and Fentanyl to agents with the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is facing a number of charges. 38-year-old Nealie Lindsler-Crowley of Buffalo was arrested over the weekend in Salamanca in connection to incidents from January to August of last year. Two people accused of being heroin dealers were picked up in Warren Monday. Police say Shane Williams and Shauna Hanson, both of Warren, were arrested following a four-month investigation by the Warren County Drug Task Force into heroin trafficking. Hanson was arrested at the couple’s Hemlock Street home, while Williams was taken into custody outside his workplace. The task force says the pair sold heroin to undercover agents. One of the members of the task force is the US Forest Service. Williams and Hanson are jailed on $35,000 bail each. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

Two Salamanca residents are in Cattaraugus County Jail for selling drugs to undercover agents with the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force in Randolph. 21-year-old Michael Doner is accused of selling heroin. 37-year-old Mary Mosley is accused of selling cocaine. A man has been picked up by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force for selling heroin. The task force says 19-year-old Brian Doner of Randolph sold the drug earlier this year on two separate occasions in the village. Doner is charged with two felony counts each of criminal possession of and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was sent to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Pennsylvania State Troopers have seized more than $49 million worth of heroin, marijuana and other prohibited drugs in the third quarter of 2014. State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan says besides the 49 kilos of heroin and more than 800 pounds of marijuana, they picked up more than 4,000 prescription pills and three pounds of methamphetamines, valued at more than $173,000, and 24 kilos of cocaine with an estimated value of $2.4 million. Schneiderman today announced the creation of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Heroin Task Force (NEMA-HTF), a multi-state heroin task force that will marshal the resources of top law enforcement officers across Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. In addition to New York and Pennsylvania, which will co-chair the effort, New Jersey and Massachusetts have also joined the coalition; additional states are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Crack cocaine, suspected heroin and marijuana were found during a raid of a Town of Great Valley home last night. 35-year-old Carl Simons of Great Valley and 32-yea-rold Raymond Jemison of Buffalo are now charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. They are in Cattaraugus County Jail on $7,500 bail each. The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and Seneca Nation Marshals found six grams of crack along with the other drugs. Today, Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) and the Center for Rural PA Board released findings from four public hearings that researched heroin abuse in Pennsylvania. The findings confirm what many strongly believed – Pennsylvania has a growing problem that’s at an epidemic level. 125 does of heroin, a large amount of cash and other items were confiscated during a raid this morning by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force. The raid at 7:25 a.m. led to the arrest of 26-year-old William Rogers of Jamestown for criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance, among other offenses. The president of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and the state attorney general are among the people who will be participating in the fourth and final public hearing concerning increased heroin use in Pennsylvania. Dr. Livingston Alexander and Kathleen Kane, as well as Clarion University President Dr. Karen Whitney are just three of the people who will be testifying at the hearing Tuesday morning at Clarion. The Center for Rural Pennsylvania says information from this hearing and the three previous hearing can be used to develop legislative policies that may help curb the use of heroin and other opioids that are having an effect on rural Pennsylvania. A tow truck driver is facing charges after being found with hypodermic needles in his truck during a traffic stop on I-86 in Chautauqua County. State police say they stopped 24-year-old Zachary Legere of Sinclairville on Friday for speeding and soon learned he had falsified log book records, as well as hypodermic needles with heroin residue in them. Legere was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and a hypodermic instrument as well as log book violations. He is scheduled to appear in North Harmony Court. Several bundles of heroin, along with powder heroin that hadn’t been packaged, and a loaded handgun, were found in an apartment where three small children were living. Jamestown police searched the Spring Street apartment Wednesday afternoon. 32 people, including a Jamestown man, have been charged with running a drug ring that brought heroin and cocaine into western New York. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and State Police Superintendent Joseph D’Amico announced this afternoon that a 13-month investigation known as “Operation Crazy Train” dismantled the operation. The suspects were arrested during a series of overnight raids. Bryan Moore is the Jamestown man who was arrested. Schneiderman says over the course of the investigation authorities seized nearly $1 million worth of heroin, several hundred thousand dollars’ worth of cocaine and tens of thousands of dollars in cash. A man who sold heroin in Olean has been sentenced to 5 years’ probation. 46-year-old Phillip Boudreaux, who has no known address, sold the heroin on January 11 of last year. A Buffalo man has pleaded not guilty in Cattaraugus County Court to selling a narcotic drug. Prosecutors say Lawrence Smith sold the drugs on May 9 and July 10 in Olean. $1,000 worth of heroin, along with drug paraphernalia, marijuana and cash were seized in a raid of an Olean house late last night by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force. The task force searched 309 North Sixth Street, where they found the heroin, cash and paraphernalia, as well as marijuana and packaging material. 22-year-old Joshua Small of Buffalo and 32-year-old Justin Vreeland of Olean are each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
