It's Madison Rising Day in Bradford

Dave and Sam from Madison Rising joined Scott Douglas on The Morning Buzz today. Bradford Mayor Tom Riel proclaimed today "Madison Rising Day" in the city. Pictured with Dave, Sam, Tom Riel and Scott Douglas is TC Clark who organized tonight's concert at the VFW Event Center. About 20 tickets are left and will be on sale at the VFW at at 11 a.m. First come, first served. The band is dedicating tonight's show to US Army SFC Andrew R. Taylor and his family. Reasons to be Thankful

Six months ago no one would have been able to tell me I'd be able to come up with anything for this list. I was beyond devastated and depressed and, for the first time in my life, could not see a light at the end of the tunnel. But, day by day, it's getting a little better. I still cry. It still hurts more than I thought was possible. But, I was able to find some things to put on my list. I’m thankful that ~~ our program director has helped me think before I post on Facebook ~~ co-workers bring in cute little treats ( see picture below ) ~~ Scott went to a Bret Michaels concert with me so I can say “Something to Believe In” is much better live and in person ~~ I was blessed with an amazing mother who turned into my best friend ~~ last Thanksgiving I didn’t whine, “I don’t wanna eat Thanksgiving dinner at The Pavilion.” ~~ I have a supportive and strong family and group of friends who helped me get through the last six months ~~ I have awesome cousins ~~ so many people in th...

Oktoberfest Set for Thursday

Presented by the Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce and Signature Sponsor American Refining Group, Inc, the BACC Oktoberfest/21st Annual Public Auction will be held on Thursday, October 24th at The Bradford Club, 32 Boylston Street, Bradford. This community event, open to the public, is the Chamber’s primary fundraiser, with proceeds supporting the many services provided by the Chamber. The doors open at 5:30 pm; with the live auction beginning at 6:30pm. Through the generous donation of products, services, and more, an exciting variety of items has been put together for the event, which will feature approximately 30 fantastic live auction packages, as well as silent auctions, pretzel drawings, and a 50/50 card drawing. The live auction will be conducted by professional auctioneer Lloyd Burkhouse as well as local celebrity auctioneers Tim Asinger of Kessel Contruction and Scott Douglas from WESB/WBRR. Big Brothers/Big Sisters Thanks Bowlers

Big Brothers Big Sisters of McKean County would like to thank the businesses and individuals who participated and donated in Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2013. Bowl For Kids’ Sake is our largest annual fundraiser that took place on March 23, 2013 at Byllye Lanes in Bradford. Funds raised will support ongoing professional match support for one on one matches between adult volunteers and youth in need of an additional positive adult role model throughout McKean County. Big Brothers Big Sisters is an evidence-based mentoring program shown to prevent substance abuse and anti-social behavior among youth. Served youth show significant improvements in school attendance, academic performance, involvement with positive school and community activities, self-esteem, interpersonal and problem solving skills, and future planning and goal setting. Served youth are also much more likely to develop friendships with positive peers and have improved relationships with family members. It costs approximately $1,...

Pitt-Bradford Plans Annual Career Fair

Representatives of employers and services will be on hand at the annual career fair at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford next week to discuss current and prospective employment and internship opportunities. The 27th annual career fair, which is sponsored by the Office of Career Services, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the Mukaiyama University Room of the Frame-Westerberg Commons. No pre-registration is required, but those attending the fair should bring copies of the resumes and dress in appropriate business attire. The event is free and open to the public. A large crowd enjoys Allegany Old Home Week activities on the penultimate day of the event. 100.1 The Hero's Scott Douglas was there for a live broadcast from 6 to 8 p.m. The festivities continue today with the kids carnival from noon to midnight and the Firemen's Annual Grand Parade at 6:30 p.m. starting at the intersection of Seventh and Main streets and ending at the intersection of First and Main. Flames Win Award at Santa Parade

OLEAN – Fifty-three units and more than 1,125 adults and children -- including our own Scott Douglas -- took part in the 26th Annual Santa Claus Lane Parade held Friday, November 25 in downtown Olean. Judging for this season’s parade was done by Al Wager, National Grid Co.; Paula Snyder, Jamestown Community College; Max Bullers, Home Depot of Olean; and Lori Babcock of Microtel Inn of Olean. The Elves Award, sponsored by Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, a float or unit that best typifies the holiday through the eyes of a child; went to Cub Scout Pack 621. Angelic Spirit Award sponsored by Mandy’s Flowers, awarded to Archbishop Walsh Academy as the most spiritual/religious float or unit.
