A group of rude and unruly people – some from the townships – disrupted Tuesday’s Bradford City Council meeting to the point where Mayor Tom Riel threatened to adjourn the meeting early. While the eight or so were loud enough that council and the media had to ask them to quiet down, the rest of the standing-room-only crowd was polite and respectful. The antics came about when council was asked about several issues including business privilege tax, a proposed storm water fee and the crime rate. Mayoral candidate Paul Berg, who seemed to be making statement rather than asking a question, wanted to know why General Electric (parent company of Dresser’s) does not pay a business privilege tax. 4:55 UPDATE: After being arraigned, he was released on $100,000 bail. 3:45 UPDATE: A charge of criminal homicide has been filed against 62-year-old Stephen Stidd of Bradford. He has not been arraigned yet, but is expected to be later today in District Judge Dominic Cercone’s office. 1:15 PM UPDATE: Local and state police are still on the scene of a fatal shooting in the parking lot behind Togi’s Restaurant on East Main Street. We will not be broadcasting or printing the names of the victim and shooter until we get the official statement from police. A person was shot in the parking lot behind Togi’s Restaurant on East Main Street this morning. The victim was reportedly shot in the chest at around 9:30. There’s no word on the person’s condition. As of this hour, the rally/walk starting at Bradford High and going to Veterans Square is still on. Meet at Bradford High (auditorium door) at 6 p.m. The walk will start at 6:30. Hot beverages and a warm bus will be available in Veterans Square. The bus will take you back to the high school if you'd rather not walk. Dress warmly. City Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man wanted for assault and harassment. 34-year-old Timothy Michael Mihalko is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and is often wearing a bandana. He has been charged in connection to an incident on October 12, and all attempts by police to reach him have failed. The high school’s Criminal Justice Club is sponsoring a rally and walk on Friday to show support for local police. People are asked to meet at the high school at 6 p.m. City Police Officer Butch Bartlett says the club will have markers and other materials so people can make signs in support of the police that they can carry on the walk. The walk starts at 6:30 and will go to Veterans Square, and then back to the high school. Bartlett says there will be a bus at the square for people to warm up, or to ride back to the school. City of Bradford Police on Thursday investigated a possible violation of drug laws on Elm Street and a theft on Bushnell Street. They were called about disturbances on Barbour and Petrolia streets, disorderly conduct on Mechanic Street and harassment by communication on Walker Avenue.
