Three of four people involved in a fight that started at the Port Allegany Sheetz in September have entered pleas in McKean County Court. 25-year-old Kyle Bonneau of Roulette, who was stabbed in the fight, pleaded no contest to simple assault and disorderly conduct. 27-year-old Christopher Taylor of Port Allegany pleaded guilty to DUI. 18-year-old Triston Duell of Coudersport pleaded guilty to harassment. Duell was fined $100 and ordered to have no contact with Bonneau. Taylor and Bonneau are both scheduled for sentencing in March. A hearing for the fourth man, 36-year-old Antwan Cunningham of Coudersport, who is accused of stabbing Bonneau, has been moved to February 19. The fight started at about 4:30 a.m. on September 21 in the Sheetz parking lot, and later continued at the intersection of Arnold Avenue and North Main Street. The Potter County Natural Gas Resource Center has arranged for an award-winning geoscientist as guest speaker for its next meeting. Dr. Terry Engelder’s presentation, “Utica Shale: Digging Deeper,” is especially timely, with large Utica Shale drilling projects on the drawing board in at least three sections of Potter County and in other parts of Pennsylvania. Marcellus Shale has been in the headlines for the past several years, but industry leaders say the Utica layer that’s beneath it -- more than two miles underground -- could be where the more intense local gas production takes place. Dr. Engelder will speak at 7 pm Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Gunzburger Building on Main Street in Coudersport. “There are many things we do not know about the Utica Shale, but there are signs that it’s going to be a very productive source of natural gas in our region, so the more we know, the better prepared we can be,” said Natural Gas Resource Center Director Bob Veilleux. The man who killed his friend for being in bed with his girlfriend has been sentenced to 10 to 20 years in state prison. 28-year-old Greg Riehl of Coudersport pleaded guilty in November to involuntary manslaughter for killing 27-year-old Anthony Palmieri in April of last year. He had originally been charged with murder. Riehl told police he and 35-year-old Michelle Nelson and had been drinking at Palmieri’s house. Riehl passed out and, when he woke up, found Nelson and Palmieri in bed together and shot the other man. Riehl then drove to Lancaster County, where his father lives, to “tell him something.” After the father and son had breakfast together, Riehl turned himself in. A Coudersport couple is accused of having a marijuana growing operation at their home. 50-year-old Stacey Amidon and 46-year-old Susan Amidon of Toad Hollow Road are each charged with a number of violations of the state’s drug laws. A woman was sent to jail for not registering with Megan’s Law. 26-year-old Kylie Ann Silsby of Coudersport was convicted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse in May of 2011 for an incident that happened in November of 2010, according to Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law website. State Police say she didn’t register with them between December 15 of last year and Saturday. She was sent to Tioga County Jail on $5,000 bail. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

A two-year-old was hurt in a one-car crash Monday afternoon in Potter County. Police say 22-year-old Joseph Boldt of Coudersport was traveling west on Route 244 in Allegany Township at 4:30 p.m. when his car went out of control while rounding a curve, traveling off the road, hit an embankment and then rolled onto its driver’s side. Boldt wasn’t hurt, but one of his passengers, a two-year-old girl from Coudersport was taken by ambulance to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Lakeview Motel in Sinnemahoning was heavily damaged by fire early this morning. The fire was reported at about 2:45 a.m. and volunteers from Sinnemahoning, Emporium, Coudersport and Austin were on the scene for about four hours. Although the roof caved in, most of the damage was confined to the hotel area and not the storefront. When they got this call, firefighters had just gotten back from battling a blaze in Coudersport that did $175,000 worth of damage to a house on Crandall Street. Coudersport fire Chief Bryan Phelps says the house is a total loss and very little personal property could be salvaged. A state police fire marshal was called in to investigate, and could not determine a cause. Port Allegany, Roulette and Galeton firefighters also responded. A Coudersport man is in Potter County Jail for raping a woman over the weekend. Police say 27-year-old John Mayernik raped the 28-year-old woman at around 11 o’clock Saturday night in Summit Township. A fight in Coudersport has led to charges against a Wellsville, New York, man. Police say 35-year-old Michael Knight assaulted 27-year-old Donald Wright of Coudersport at a home in the borough. Two of the men involved in a fight near Sheetz in Port Allegany back in September have waived their preliminary hearings. 25-year-old Kyle Bonneau of Roulette, whose stab wounds required surgery, is charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses for allegedly punching 36-year-old Antwan Cunningham of Coudersport in the face until he was unconscious. 26-year-old Christopher Taylor of Port Allegany, who was with Bonneau, is charged with aggravated assault as well. Both men are free on unsecured bail. Charges against Cunningham and 18-year-old Triston Duell, also of Coudersport, were bound to McKean County Court following preliminary hearings. The City of Bradford has received $75,000 in grant money for installation of the Hanley Park Trail and Fitness Area. The project is the final leg connecting the Community Parks Trail to Hanley Park. The fitness loop in the upper portion of the park is expected to include trails with information boards marking exercise stations. The grant from the Greenway Trails & Recreation Program will cover part of the $208,000 cost of the project. ~~~ HARRISBURG – The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved a total of $2,086,132 for six energy, trail and water and sewer projects in the 25th Senatorial District, announced Senator Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson). A “known male juvenile” is facing charges for riding his bike while under the influence. Police say he was riding his bike on the wrong side of Route 6 near Jenigens Body Shop in Coudersport at 1:46 this morning. They later learned he was DUI and had a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia with him. The charges were filed through Potter County Juvenile Probation. A Coudersport man has been charged with stabbing a man Friday night in Olean. 29-year-old Ivan Williams was picked up during a traffic stop Sunday night and charged with felony assault. Police say Williams stabbed 34-year-old John Carter III of the Bronx late Friday night in the 7-Eleven parking lot on West State Street. Carter is being treated at ECMC in Buffalo for two stab wounds, but may be released today. Williams is expected to be arraigned today. The news leader of the Twin Tiers ... since 1947

The 438-page cookbooks are available for $20 each to benefit the Teacher’s Pet Rescue program in Potter County. The rescue center is a non-profit, volunteer-operated organization that is challenged by the many financial burdens required for the care of lost or abused dogs. Court papers say he and 36-year-old Antwan Cunningham of Coudersport got into a fight and while Cunningham was stabbing Bonneau, Bonneau punched Cunningham in the face until he was unconscious. He had cuts on his cheek, lip and wrist, a black eye and at least two missing teeth. 26-year-old Christopher Taylor of Port Allegany, who was with Bonneau, is charged with aggravated assault as well. 18-year-old Triston Duell of Coudersport, who was with Cunningham, is also charged with aggravated assault. Cunningham is in McKean County Jail on $75,000 bail. Bonneau is free on $75,000 bail. Taylor and Duell are each free on $20,000 bail. All four ...

A second person has been charged in connection to a stabbing outside of Sheetz in Port Allegany on September 21. 36-year-old Antwan Cunningham of Coudersport was charged and sent to McKean County Jail last week for the stabbing outside the convenience store. Late Monday night, the man accused of driving the car Cunningham was in that morning was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. 18-year-old Triston Duell, also of Coudersport, is free on unsecured bail. Court papers say the victim’s friend told police Duell and Cunningham followed them out of Sheetz to Brooklynside, onto Route 6 and back onto North Main Street, where both vehicles stopped, Cunningham and the victim got out of the vehicles, and they fought. Someone stole a vehicle from Kightlinger Motors in Coudersport over the weekend. Police say the vehicle was taken between Saturday night and Sunday morning, and was found near a house on Christian Hollow Road in McKean County. Troopers are continuing their investigation. Someone stole cash and jewelry from a Genesee home last week. Police say sometime between 10 o’clock Wednesday morning and 1:30 that afternoon a burglar went into the Academy Street home and took the cash and jewelry. A stabbing outside the Port Allegany Sheetz early Sunday morning has landed a Coudersport man in jail. 36-year-old Antwan Cunningham was arraigned Wednesday night on a number of charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Court records say police were called to a fight in front of Sheetz at 4:35 a.m. but, by the time they got there, the people involved were gone. Police contacted area hospitals, telling them to watch for a man needing treatment for stab wounds. The victim showed up at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, and had to have surgery and stitches to treat the injuries. A hatchet and some cash have been stolen in Potter County. State police say the Boy Scout hatchet with a black handle and red blade, along with $100 in cash and a One Bank check were taken from John Miller’s Grom Hill Road home in Coudersport.
