Climbing Limited at Rimrock

Forest Supervisor Leanne Marten has issued an order prohibiting rock-climbing or rappelling on any cliff, rock, or stone face in the developed area of the Rimrock Overlook. The developed area of the Rimrock Overlook involves constructed railings and structures intended for public viewing of the Allegheny Reservoir and surrounding lands. In the past, rock-climbing and rappelling was allowed in this area as long as ropes and other gear were not attached to the structures. As a result, ropes and other gear were anchored to vegetation behind the structures, blocking walking access around the developed area of the Overlook, and causing possible safety hazards. The Forest Order was issued to address these concerns. Other undeveloped areas of the Overlook will remain open for rock-climbing and rappelling.

Strangely enough this is coming at a time that petitioners are trying to somehow get the Forest Service to stop oil exploration at Rimrock. The Forest Service punishes the petitioners because some of the petitioners rappelled off a hardware store rope and luckily didn't die. The petitioners complain to the Forest Service to stop drilling. The Forest Service has no control over the mineral rights to the area. The real climbers who use the area loose two of the best climbs in North Central, PA.

Woman Charged with Posting
Nude Picture on Facebook

A Falconer, New York, woman is facing charges after allegedly posting a naked photo of a Warren woman on Facebook. Police say 22-year-old Lindsay Head posted the picture without the consent of the 21-year-old victim, who is dating Head's ex-boyfriend. Head is charged with dispersing obscene and sexual materials. The picture has been removed from Facebook.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
