Court OKs Beer at PA Wegmans

A Pennsylvania appeals court is giving the OK for beer sales at restaurants run by the Wegmans supermarket chain.

Commonwealth Court issued a pair of unanimous opinions today that rejected arguments by the state's beer store association that Wegmans didn't qualify for a beer sales license.

The ruling concerns Wegmans stores in Bethlehem and Williamsport. The grocery chain is also seeking liquor licenses for its stores in Dickson City, Lower Nazereth, State College and Wilkes-Barre.

The Malt Beverage Distributors Association says allowing sales at stores like Wegmans will devastate their member businesses.
