Spots Open for Watercolor Class

Registrations are still being accepted for a special two-day weekend advanced watercolor class taught by esteemed artist Barbara Fox at the Cattaraugus County Arts Council’s Community Art and Pottery Studio. The class will take place on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8, Barbara will offer Advanced Watercolor Glazing Techniques from 10am–4pm.

Barbara Fox is well-known for the glow of light, richness of color, and realistic detail she captures in her paintings. Open to those already familiar with basic water media painting techniques, participants will work alongside Barbara as she teaches how to plan a painting and then demonstrates her layering techniques. Day one of the workshop will have participants painting from the same photo, and day two everyone will work from their own images. Class size is limited for individualized instruction. Paper will be provided. Paint and paper are included in the tuition and the remaining supplies will be given at time of registration and will be available at a discount at the Paper Factory in Olean. Beverages will be provided but bring a lunch. The member fee if $85 and the nonmember fee is $95.

Barbara Fox received a BFA in Studio Art at University of California, with a focus on painting in watercolor. She has exhibited widely in juried art competitions, and juried fine art festivals. She’s a member of numerous art societies including Northwest Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, Arizona Watercolor Society, Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, and Transparent Watercolor Society. She was featured in American Artist Magazine in April 2005 with her article, “4 Steps to a Glowing Watercolor.” Examples of Barbara’s work can be viewed at www.barbarafoxwatercolors.com.

The classes will be held at CCAC’s Community Art and Pottery Studio (CAPS) at 4th and Maple in Allegany, NY.
