Toomey May Run for Senate

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pat Toomey, a conservative former congressman who narrowly lost the 2004 Republican primary to Sen. Arlen Specter, said Monday he may demand a rematch next year.

Toomey, who is president of the anti-tax Club for Growth in Washington, recently had said he was considering running for Pennsylvania governor. But a written statement he issued Monday marked the first time he acknowledged publicly that he is contemplating taking on Specter for a second time.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges after state police got a report about unauthorized use of a vehicle. Troopers found the vehicle in Randolph on Wednesday and arrested the driver, 31-year-old Bridget Bardo of Conewango, for aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on her own recognizance and scheduled to appear in Town of Randolph Court. Her passenger, 28-year-old Andrew Jaquish of Salamanca, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
